Top Notch

Horse Lodging

Are you traveling with horses?  There are 1500 acres of Wyoming State Land accessible directly from the JC Stage Stop. We recommend OnX or Gaia for maps, as the trails are more of a suggestion than a well-traveled route.

We offer many accommodations, including a place for you to store your tack.  Our facilities include:

  • Ten covered stalls that are 10′ x 12′
  • Six covered pens that are 10′ x 21′
  • Three pens that are 20′ x 20′
  • Two pens that are 20′ x 30′
  • Outdoor riding arena that is 60′ x 120′
  • Six hitching posts with saddle racks on each side

You can reserve a stall for your horse online, or we can package your trip for you. The horse stalls are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not require bedding; the sandy soil reduces the need for bedding in the stalls. If you would like to bring your own, please bring the pellets that are watered down to reduce debris blown away by the wind.

Please note that Wyoming is a brand state. In order to leave the brand inspection area, you will need to have a brand inspection, whether or not your horse has a brand. This is a requirement of the Wyoming Livestock board. Check out the rules regarding horses for contact information for brand inspectors. Many western states (Montana, Idaho, New Mexico, Wyoming, and western South Dakota to name a few) require brand papers to determine ownership of your horse.  Coggins and certificates of veterinary inspection are required to cross state lines, but do not necessarily fulfill the brand requirement. Even if your state does not require brand inspection, you will need a brand paper to leave any brand area.
